Today, we boarded Hurtigruten’s Midnatsol to begin our Arctic adventure.
The boarding process was quite different from any other cruise line we have experienced. Instead of waiting in a crowded terminal, we were welcomed into a comfortable lounge, where pastries and drinks were served while we waited for the security screening and safety briefing. We then watched a brief five-minute safety video in a conference room ashore before finally boarding the ship.
After embarking, we headed to the buffet restaurant on Deck 5 for lunch. The food was good, with a generous selection of fish, cured and dried meats, fresh vegetables, and other local specialties. Hurtigruten clearly isn’t trying to impress passengers with international cuisine or extravagant buffets. Instead, it focuses on showcasing authentic Norwegian food and culture, an approach that we actually prefer.
Hurtigruten’s Midnatsol departed at 2:30 p.m., and we headed to the sun deck to celebrate the beginning of our new journey.
Dinner was also served buffet-style. Afterwards, we joined many of our fellow passengers in the lecture hall to watch the Norway vs. Ivory Coast football match on the big screen. Naturally, we cheered enthusiastically for Norway, and it was a fun way to end our first day on board.
After the game, we headed to the top deck to enjoy the beautiful scenery as we sailed along before retiring to our cabin for the night.

今天，我们登上了海达路德（Hurtigruten）的 Midnatsol 号，正式开启期待已久的北极之旅。
海达路德的登船流程与我们以往搭乘过的邮轮都不太一样。首先，工作人员安排大家在岸上的休息室等候，并贴心地提供了咖啡、饮料和点心。之后又观看了一段仅五分钟的安全视频，然后才正式登船。
登船后，我们先来到五层餐厅享用自助午餐。餐点虽然不算特别丰盛，却提供了大量挪威特色食材，包括各种鱼类、风干肉、腌制肉品以及新鲜蔬菜等。海达路德显然并不是靠世界各地的美食来吸引游客，而是希望让旅客体验最道地的挪威饮食文化。我很喜欢这样的安排，因为旅行本来就是体验当地文化，而不仅仅是享受豪华邮轮上的各种设施。
今天因为是登船的日子，晚餐同样安排了自助餐。餐后我们来到讲座厅，与其他乘客一起在大屏幕上观看挪威对阵科特迪瓦的足球比赛。在挪威坐挪威的船为挪威队加油助威是理所当然的。
