According to our itinerary, we were scheduled to hike up Poon Hill early this morning to watch the sunrise, which is considered one of the most spectacular in Nepal. However, since it required an additional early-morning climb, I had already decided when signing up for the tour that I would skip it to conserve my energy for the days ahead. Having enjoyed countless sunrises from different continents and out at sea over the years, I felt I could afford to miss this one.
At 4:30 a.m., everyone except me set off in the darkness for Poon Hill, while I enjoyed some extra sleep. The following are a few pictures taken by Christine’s phone from Poon Hill.
Nevertheless, I woke up around 5:30 a.m. and headed to the rooftop to admire the surrounding mountain range. As the sun gradually rose, its first rays illuminated the snow-covered peaks, transforming them into magnificent golden mountains. The sight was absolutely breathtaking.
Afterward, I took a leisurely walk around the quiet village. With most trekkers away watching the sunrise from Poon Hill, the streets were nearly deserted. I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and the opportunity to appreciate the mountain scenery at my own pace. It turned out to be a wonderful morning, even without the Poon Hill hike.
At 8:30 a.m., I reunited with the group and began our trek toward Chuile.
As we descended along the trail, we came across two water buffaloes fighting near the path. Just as we were passing, they suddenly charged in our direction! Everyone was startled, but fortunately, they were not actually charging at us, and we escaped without incident.
We stopped for lunch at Sankar Hotel and Restaurant and enjoyed a much-needed break of over an hour.
Later, we spotted monkeys playing in the trees along the trail. It was another pleasant surprise and added a little excitement to our journey.
After a long day of hiking, we finally arrived at our destination, Mountain Discovery Lodge in Chuile (7478 ft elevation), around 4:30 p.m. The lodge was surrounded by spacious, open meadows, with spectacular views of Machhapuchhre, also known as Fishtail Mountain, and the surrounding Himalayan peaks.
We were fortunate to have a private room with a double bed and an ensuite bathroom, although hot showers were no longer included. Both hot showers and Wi-Fi required an additional fee. While our phones still had decent LTE reception, we decided to pay for Wi-Fi to ensure a more reliable connection with our family.
As the sun began to set, the evening light illuminated Fishtail Mountain, creating another unforgettable scene.
Today’s trek covered approximately 8 miles (12.9 km), with a cumulative elevation gain of about 2,000 feet (610 m) for me. For those who also completed the early-morning Poon Hill hike, the total distance was approximately 10 miles (16.1 km), with an elevation gain of about 4,000 feet (1,219 m). Although I skipped the famous Poon Hill sunrise hike, I had no regrets. From the golden peaks at sunrise in Ghorepani to the spectacular sunset over Fishtail Mountain, it was a long but rewarding day filled with unforgettable Himalayan scenery.

按照原定行程，今天清晨我们要登上布恩山（Poon Hill， 海拔10531英尺）观赏日出。据说这里是尼泊尔最著名、最壮观的日出观赏地之一。不过，由于这是一段需要额外爬升的清晨徒步，我在报名参加这次旅行时，就已经决定放弃这项活动，把体力留给接下来的行程。这些年来，我曾在不同的大洲、山川湖海之间欣赏过无数次日出，因此觉得偶尔错过一次也无妨。
凌晨4点半，除了我以外，其他队友都摸黑出发前往布恩山，而我则留在客栈里，享受难得的额外睡眠时间。
不过，早上5点半左右，我还是醒了过来，便走上客栈的屋顶，欣赏四周壮丽的雪山。随着太阳缓缓升起，第一缕阳光洒在远处白雪皑皑的山峰上，原本银白色的雪山渐渐披上了一层金色的光辉，形成令人惊叹的“日照金山”奇景。眼前的景色壮丽得令人屏息。
随后，我又独自在村子里悠闲地走了一圈。由于大多数徒步者都去了布恩山看日出，清晨的村庄显得格外安静，几乎看不到什么人。没有熙熙攘攘的游客，也没有匆忙赶路的脚步，只有清新的山间空气和宁静的喜马拉雅山景。我很享受这种安静自在的氛围。虽然没有登上布恩山，却也度过了一个十分美好的早晨。
上午8点半，大家重新集合，开始了今天前往楚伊勒（Chuile）的徒步。
沿着山路下行时，我们遇到了两头正在路边打斗的水牛。就在大家小心翼翼地从旁边经过时，两头水牛突然朝我们的方向猛冲过来！这一幕把所有人都吓了一跳。幸好它们并不是冲着我们来的，最终大家都有惊无险地通过了。
我们在 Sankar Hotel and Restaurant 吃了午饭，并休息了一个多小时。经过一路徒步，这段休息时间正是我们迫切需要的。
没过多久，我们又在路旁的树上发现了猴子。没想到徒步途中还能遇见野生猴群，大家都感到十分惊喜。这些意外的动物邂逅，也给漫长的山路增添了不少乐趣。
经过一天漫长的徒步，我们终于在下午4:30左右抵达位于楚伊莱（Chuile, 海拔7478英尺）的山间探索客栈（Mountain Discovery Lodge）。客栈四周是开阔的高山草甸，可以欣赏到鱼尾峰（Machhapuchhre）及周围喜马拉雅群峰的壮丽景色。
幸运的是，我们仍然住进了一间带双人床和独立卫生间的客房，不过热水淋浴已不再免费，需要额外付费，Wi-Fi 也是如此。虽然手机仍有不错的 LTE 信号，但为了能与家人保持稳定的联系，我们还是决定购买 Wi-Fi 服务。
傍晚时分，夕阳的余晖洒在鱼尾峰上，雪山在柔和的光线中显得格外壮丽。早晨刚刚在戈雷帕尼欣赏过令人难忘的日照金山，傍晚又有幸看到夕阳映照下的鱼尾峰，实在是一天中最美好的收获。
这一天虽然路途漫长，却充满了惊喜。从惊险的水牛相遇，到树上的猴群，再到早晚两次令人难忘的雪山美景，都为我们的安纳普尔纳大本营徒步之旅增添了美好的回忆。
